Alexi Ola, that's her name. She weighed as little as 3 lbs 5 oz when she was born 10 weeks before her due date. She has blue eyes, blonde hair, her mothers nose, and Down Syndrome. We are here to tell anyone that wants to hear, all about our life together. Rockin her Designer Genes.
About Us
We're the Roches. We've always been adventurous to say the least. We like to have a good time. I mean, we had a giant moon bounce at Alexi's baby shower for cryin out loud.
We like to ride ATVs, take 4wd vehicles out in the woods and see if we can't get stuck, ride Christmas trees around the backyard (or pretty much anything you can drag behind a quad,) and have bonfires, bonfires that occasionally end up with a Ford Explorer in them. Honestly, that is just the tip of the iceberg, I couldn't even begin to describe all the shenanigans we seem to find ourselves getting in to.
Adventure has meant many different things to us over the years. Having a child with Down Syndrome would definitely be considered an adventure. This whole experience is teaching us things we'd never have known, introducing us to people we may not have have met, and taking us places that would have gone unseen.
We've never been "typical," or been constrained by fitting any sort of mold, so we feel it only suits us that Alexi is a little bit different. We're certainly not intimidated by a challenge, so this new set of experiences is nothing we'd consider difficult at all. Heck, Alexi is our first child, so we know parenting no other way...it's just how parenting goes as far as we're concerned.
So, all in all, we're just your ordinary, everyday, typical famil.....wait no we're not. Not at all. But having a child with DS is just a star in the sky, when you think of all the reasons we're not typical.
